Brady students who presented about charities

Brady Middle School seventh graders recently completed an inspiring project that combined research, writing, and public speaking skills while supporting meaningful causes. Students selected charities they felt passionate about and dove deep into understanding their mission and impact.

Working with teachers Lee Ensman, Jena Ford, Arianna Elder, and Sarah Moore, students tackled this multi-faceted assignment through thorough research of their chosen charitable organizations, crafting compelling multi-page argumentative essays defending their charity selection, designing memorable visual presentations to persuade potential donors, and presenting their work to classmates for peer evaluation. The most effective presentations, as voted by their peers, earned the privilege of presenting to a distinguished VIP panel composed of teachers, administrators, and community members.

All participating groups demonstrated exceptional preparation, poise, and knowledge while delivering engaging presentations that showcased their advocacy skills. The team of Elijah Brownstein, Ethan Hogan, and Aidan Tong presented on behalf of Oceana and received the highest number of votes from the VIP panel. Raleigh Lepene and Jaya Mathur made a compelling case for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, while Isha Kambhampati, Mila King, and Lynn Mehdi advocated for Feed the Children. The team advocating for The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation included Charly Garten, Hadie Munk, Sohana Patel, and Abby Powell.

This project successfully combined academic rigor with real-world application, teaching students valuable research, writing, and presentation skills while encouraging them to become advocates for causes they care about.
